Raiders vs. Chargers Prediction 12/18/16

OAKLAND RAIDERS VS. SAN DIEGO CHARGERS PREDICTION
LINE:
Raiders -3
TOTAL: 49.5

The Oakland Raiders dropped out of first place in the AFC West with last week’s 21-13 loss at Kansas City. The combination of frigid conditions and an injured right pinkie finger limited quarterback Derek Carr who was 17-of-41 passing for only 117 yards, but he was listed as a full participant in Wednesday’s padded practice. The Raiders have had 10 days off since the defeat, and they’re 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games after scoring less than 15 points in their previous game.

The San Diego Chargers are dead last in the AFC West and they’ve lost three of their last four games. They lost 28-16 at Carolina last Sunday, their biggest margin of defeat this season, but are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games following a straight up loss. Quarterback Philip Rivers is enjoying a good season, but he’s also been intercepted a league-worst 17 times.

Both teams are capable of putting up plenty of points on the board with Oakland averaging 27.5 points per game (2nd) and San Diego 26.9 points (4th) per game, while both teams are in the bottom 10 for points allowed.

Oakland has won three straight against the Chargers and managed to erase an eight-point second-half deficit in a 34-31 win in Week 5. The under is 15-5-1 in the last 21 meetings at Qualcomm Stadium, but the over is 10-3 in Oakland’s games this season and 8-4-1 in San Diego’s.

The Raiders will be desperate to win, but their division rival won’t roll over easily. Expect a high-scoring game as two offensively capable teams try to outscore each other.
