Betting Preview
The Oakland Athletics will visit the Los Angeles Angels for a three-game series that kicks off Monday. Both teams have been out of the playoff race for quite some while, but the Halos are playing well right now and had won four straight prior to a 4-1 loss to Houston on Sunday.
In tonight’s game we’ll see Sean Manaea (6-9, 4.03 ERA) vs. Jered Weaver (12-12, 5.20 ERA) on the hill.
Manaea has pitched 11 shutout innings in his past two starts for the A’s and was not involved in the decision of Tuesday’s 2-1 loss to Houston when he fanned seven in six scoreless innings. The left-hander has faced Los Angeles once – a 5-4 road loss on Aug. 2, when he was charged with five runs – four earned – in 5 2/3 innings.
Weaver has been fighting injuries and declining velocity in the last couple of years, but he managed to secure his 150th career win Wednesday night against the Texas. Weaver held the Rangers to four runs, six hits and two walks while striking out six in the 5-4 victory. The 33-year-old Californian is 1-0 with a 4.56 ERA against Oakland this season.
